In 1990, the Football Federation of Georgia seceded from the Football Federation of the USSR. This means that the Georgian clubs will no longer take part in the Soviet Championship. From this period begins modern history Dinamo Tbilisi. The team changed its name to "Iberia".
The level of the new championship was disastrously low, and even teams, who played in the past years in the highest and first union leagues - from Kutaisi Lanchkhuti, Batumi - were not able to compete with the "Iberia", which returned after 2 years, still its former glorious name . "Dynamo" won 10 consecutive championships and six times in the 90 years it has become the owner of the Georgian Cup, but that does not mean the growth of the command class. The only salvation could be involved in evroturnira. First, however, had to wait until Georgia joins FIFA and UEFA, and when finally it happened and Tbilisi residents returned to the continental scene, a man, who had no direct relation to the club before the game with the Northern Ireland "Linfield" tried to foist a bribe 5000 dollars Turkish referee. "Dynamo" was disqualified for 2 seasons, then knock off up to one term.
Gradually, it became difficult to keep the Dynamo leadership position in the country and in 2000 - the year they lost the title.
